My cousin visited me at prison camp today. She has made the initial steps to join me here. And though life here is not exactly heaven, I think it would do her some good to have some experience at least. She has a little boy after all. And she needs the cash to put her son to school. So far, she has been relying heavily on her folks as she continued to go to school.

Now that she has just graduated (Congratulations, by the way, to all those who graduated yesterday, March 16, 2008 - Silliman University Graduates of 2008), she has to assume responsibility of her kiddo.

She had expressed her concern regarding the tuition fees even at the kiddo’s age of 4. And it got me thinking about my own spawn.

Sophie is so excited at the thought of going to school. She has her own notebooks, crayons, and pencils, and writes almost on anything. She learns quite fast and she seems to think school is pretty cool. Teehee.. (she is so NOT me!). So I plan to test her readiness for school next month by sending her to ABC Learning Center for a month. At least she could try school for a month, and if she doesnt like it, then at least I would not have wasted money for a full term. The fee is around Php. 850.00 - as what a colleague said - and that is fine with me. The full-term fee is around Php. 10,000-15,000 or something and I think I can handle that.

But when my cousin told me my nephew’s tuition fee is around Php. 19,000-22,000 I think I almost fainted. THAT is scary man!! Now I have to start calculating how much if both Sophie AND Frankie start school. I can imagine a headache coming along.

Although we have plans for school… I am beginning to rethink and rethink everything. Perhaps it is time to reach into my abyss and start dreaming of Merlions again. Wahh.. unless something comes up soon. Those dreams are about to become a reality. And quick!!

God, how costly is it to put a kid through school!?
